Fort Sisseton State Park...

Originally a frontier army outpost built in 1864, this national historic landmark has been restored.  The site of the fort was chosen for providing a strong natural defense, an ample supply of lime and clay for making bricks, an abundance of lake water for drinking and a thick stand of trees for timber and fuel.  Guided tours by fort 'soldiers' and others in costume will be available.  Hikes will be conducted by Park Rangers.

Blue Dog State Fish Hatchery...

South Dakota's warm and cool water fish production is done at this hatchery.  Waters are filtered, aerated, and heated to provide a variety of water temperature supplies for both indoor and outside rearing of fish.  Inside the hatchery are incubations jars and rearing tanks.  Outdoors there are eight raceways and 38 rearing ponds.  Two hiking trails are also located in the complex.

Waubay National Wildlife Refuge...

Displays and exhibits focus on the wildlife and history of the refuge.  About 1.5 miles of trails encircle the island around Headquarters.  You'll see a variety of songbirds, waterfowl, and sometimes deer.  A 110 foot tower offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding area.

The Kjorsvig farm was homesteaded in 1886.  Fjord horses have been bred for over 4,000 years and selectively bred by the Norwegians for 2000 years.  The Norwegian Fjord is the oldest equine breed in the world.  The Kjorsvig Fjord horses have a kindly face, broad forehead and large eyes.  The regularity and comfort of their pace is graceful and comfortable to ride.  They are a friendly horse that loves attention and petting.  The Kjorsvig's are dedicated to raising prestigious pedigreed Fjords.  This picturesque farm is home to the Kjorsvigs, their 60 horses, family pets, and many antiques.
